Started by neighbours, after the grocery store closed.
How we started
In 2019 the only grocery store in walking distance of this corner closed. A few neighbours put a fridge on the sidewalk. Then a market in a borrowed garage. Then, in 2020, a lease on the warehouse and a 501(c)(3). Produce rescue started in 2021 when a grocer on Lake Street asked if we wanted what they were throwing away.
Who we are

Executive Director. Ten years at a Twin Cities food bank before this. Drives the Tuesday rescue run herself.

Programmes & Volunteers. Grew up three blocks away. The one who emails you back.

Six grocers and two farms give us about 4,000 lb a week: Lindgren's Market, Lake Street Co-op, Bloomington Foods, Franklin Grocery, Midtown Market, Eastside Natural, Rush Creek Farm and Sol Verde Farm.
